ISSJ provides consultations to Child Guidance Centers, child welfare facilities, municipalities, medical institutions, consultation agencies, etc., throughout Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ISSJ, in cooperation with local Child Guidance Centers, has supported the adoption of children who cannot find adoptive\/foster parents due to factors such as older age, developmental challenges, or medical needs.
If the birth parents are of foreign nationality, they will require various kinds of support, such as for notifying their home country of the birth (birth registration), and obtaining, changing, or renewing status of residence. When developing a support policy for a child with foreign roots, one possible option can also be for family members and\/or relatives living in the home country to take in and care for the child. There may also be prospective adoptive parents who share the same roots as the child with foreign roots. It is extremely important to consider the child\u2019s identity, roots, language, and cultural background in developing a support policy, from the perspective of permanency as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
