Assistance for Family Reunion

Refugees and asylum seekers who have entered Japan by escaping from their native countries because of war, civil war, or political or religious persecution come to ISSJ and request our assistance to invite their families to Japan. There are also cases in which children who were internationally adopted and moved abroad under unavoidable circumstances, wish to find out biological parents and request a search for them.

Reunion of family requires a thorough assessment on the circumstance of all the concerned parties and a careful judgement on whether a reunion is in the best interest for them. Although this is a kind of service that requires time and deliberate investigation, whenever a reunion is made, it gives us an opportunity to share the joy with our clients and to think about ties that bind families again.
