ISSJ KURE - The 3rd Global Sports Festa

An athletic meeting - the 3rd Global Sports Festa was held jointly by ISSJ Kure with International Friendly Association, Hiroshima "Mecon no Kai" and KUPA (Kure Philippine Association) at the gymnasium of Kure Primary School on October 15, 2000. This Sports Festa is an international athletic meeting held annually with a purpose of developing friendly relations between the Japanese and foreign residents in Kure City and its vicinities through sports and dances.

On that day 108 participants including Cambodians, Vietnamese, Laotians, and Filipinos gathered and both adults and children enjoyed various games such as a ladle relay game (race with a ladle with a ball in it), a four-legged race, skipping race, biting-bread race and so on. Main events were the folklore dances of the participants, e.g. Filipino "Bamboo Dance" and Laotian Dance. This athletic meeting greatly contributed to mutual understanding and friendship.

"AMIZADE" (Japanese descended Portuguese group) would like to participate in this event from next year, and so the cultural exchange field is expected to become larger.
